Zoe Connor MSc RD
Dietitian and Nutrition Consultant
Zoe qualified in 2001 with a Post Graduate Diploma in Nutrition and Dietetics. She began her career in the London NHS teaching hospitals, getting a varied and solid footing in all different aspects of adult clinical nutrition.
She specialised in paediatrics in 2003, receiving a distinction in her Masters degree in Nutrition and Dietetics 2004. Since then she has worked almost exclusively in paediatrics in NHS hospitals, community clinics and schools.
She has a particular interest in learning disabilities and autism and chairs a national group of dietitians interested in autism - which gives her the opportunity to advise on national policy including the upcoming NICE guidance on autism. Alongside specialising in paediatrics, Zoe continues to advise on adult nutrition. She also undertook extra training in sports nutrition from the world experts in the Australian Institute of Sport in 2008.
Areas that Zoe can help with:
- Food allergy and intolerance - identifying problem foods and finding satisfying substitutes - at all ages including babies
- General dietary `MOT` and healthy eating advice - at all ages including babies
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) - using the most up to date research including the incredibly effective FODMAPs diet
- Food refusal and other feeding problems in children - strategies to overcome mealtime battles and ensure your child is getting enough nutrition
- Faltering growth in children / wanting to gain more weight in adults - practical, simple strategies
- Dietary help with autism, ADHD and related disorders - advice on whether food exclusions or changes in diets could help with your childs behaviour or gut problems
- Overcoming comfort eating and becoming a more intuitive eater Zoe prefers this approach to standard weight loss advice. Most "diets" work in the short term - it`s the long term maintenance that is the problem, and for most of us our brains are wired to rebel against a feeling "of restriction." Learning to eat when you are hungry and stop when you are satisfied is the natural way to find your naturally healthy weight - whatever range that falls in. This is not a quick fix, but an effective longer term approach to honouring your body better with the way you feed it.
